         Using,choosing a weapon in close
                                   protection world.

,,....a gun is like a condom!''with a serious face, looking down the man sayed.
All the guys start laughing.
-How so !?a background voice stopped the amusement moment,
his eyes still looking at the same point in the ground,,...is better to have one and don't need it , instead of needing one and didn't have it...''the amusement started again, for just a second - he didn't laugh-i stop laughing,we stop laughing,we were watching to his mark somewhere in to the right part of his chest...a bullet mark.
                                                                                                                                           Kandahar 2008

A lot of inexperienced young ,,mates'' wants to be a CPO- they don't understand the contrast behind this job as a ,,bodyguard''.The image was created with excess by movies where the good boy(the bodyguard) chase the bad boys and catch them after a street crossfire-the short version of a hero movie ....WRONG IMAGE!!!
In real life there is no such thing. Why?
The bodyguard don't chase the bad boys .He stay put next to his client without losing him from his view.Never leaves his VIP alone.
Using a gun is a dangerous movement, even just to intimidate is a half mistake. To use a gun, you ,as a CPO are obligated to obey the legislation of the hosted country-remember no weapon usege unless is necessary.Even when you are in the 1 second decision of using or not the weapon,do not freeze at the moment of pulling out the gun or not, make an advanced view of the situation. If you consider that the problem can be solved without lethal response - do not show yourself and make some excess of your Close ProtectionOfficer quality-if you consider that the only way is your weapon, preview the
next movement of your enemy ,fire at much as possible to the legs, arms(in the first instance), if the enemy is hit ,secure that is not having another weapon, secure that the threat is eliminated ,that your VIP is fine and give first medical assistance to any victim .The CPO usage of weapon is different than the ,,military class'',civilian legislation is one of the first CPO barrier. The knowlogies of weapon and ammunition law in the host country applies to the CPO.In Europe, as a small paranteze, the European Council acording to Art.7 point 2 and 4 from Council Directive of 18 June 1991 on Control of the Acquisition and Possession of Weapons (91/477/EEC) you have to be approved by the host country to carry a weapon on her territory,so you are already monitored.Do not misunderstand me-i'm not saying never use the gun, just take the right decision because only you are responsible for
your actions and if for just a second you think that a danger situation can be solved without fire a weapon, implicate yourself just fisically, physically.
But...how to choose a gun?
I prefer some criterias that i choose my weapon and it depends on some factors like:simplucity under the stress situations is more useful a simple weapon mechanism and as simple it is as fast it can be done- accuracy depends a lot about the shooter abilities, experience and usage of the particular weapon,,most of people consider that accuracy must be the top priority of a weapon...accuracy depends on the
operator-  caliber -the bigger the better you might say...no i can not use a big weapon if i can't have control over him, bigger caliber result big rebound, big rebound result not so accurate targeting. As a weight every CPO knows that a weapon should be hidden and fixed so during any ,,adventures'' he will not be under the penibele situation of dropping down his own weapon.

The manufacture of the weapon is the choice of any CPO(under his own experience).
