The Responsibilities of Bodyguard Services
Personal protection officers that offer bodyguard services have many responsibilities towards their client and the general public when working. Bodyguard services must be professional at all times and this must never be compromised by becoming too familiar with the client or principal. Trained bodyguards are expected to be educated, well presented, articulate and intelligent when providing bodyguard services. Bodyguards are also required to have the correct accreditation and are responsible to ensure that all their documents are up to date and comply with the industry standard.
An additional responsibility of bodyguard services is the ability to pay close attention to detail and a good bodyguard must immediately be able to detect a change in circumstances that could pose a threat to a VIP. Bodyguards must be able to respond to these threats and situations rapidly and effectively. When choosing a bodyguard it is the responsibility of the client to request that the personal protection officer produces valid and contactable references and it is important that the VIP feels safe and comfortable with their bodyguard service.
Some VIPs may request that their bodyguard sign a non-disclosure agreement to ensure that their private and sensitive information will not be discussed or shared with the public. It is therefore the responsibility of the bodyguard services not to divulge any of this private information, even after his contract has expired. Close Protection responsibilities of bodyguard services include protection of VIPs during concert tours, political addresses, travelling and business meetings.
The responsibilities of bodyguard services include keeping a low profile if necessary. This means that bodyguards should not always be visible and must able to be discreet if need be. Many bodyguards for VIPs are responsible for transporting their clients and must therefore have a valid driver's licence and excellent driving skills in order to safeguard their client and remove them from a potential threat quickly and safely.Sometimes is recomended that the Driver and the Bodyguard sounld not be the same person,a driver is a driver ,he will transport his VIP instead of the bodyguard he will be next to his client in alert all the time.I've heard about some situation where the bodyguard had to ,,protect'' his client from mass-media assault and direct him to the car.
The only problem was that the car was pick up because it was on illegal parking spot.Imagine not the problems involved coming from reporters, not the discomfort of the client imagine the shame of the particularly bodyguard and the reputation of the security agency..A driver skills is necessary ,even in a squad of CPO is one pre named driver and if anything happens to him a member from the squad will the his place on the wheel,pre-named also and so on.most of the guilt belong to the client as well, they requare just a driver\bodyguard(as they think) without taking in consideration the unespected element of a threat.Obviously if someone require a bodyguard service, it means that is under a delicate situation and they(clients) consider that just one bodyguard(driver as well) will do the job...WRONG!!!
The other part of the guilt comes from the Risk Analysis Specialist - under his analysis the team take the CP job in a level of risk, they prepare themself ,equip and put together the tactics for any scenario..If you have a medium risk level do not financially charge the client for a high security service and sent one person to do the work. This is WRONG as well but i've seen very often this tactic, and is not providing any quality service-just pure marketing,so ,,future clients'' you know the real threat, trust the Risk Analysis Specialist from your chosen Security Company, but if you feel insecure with just one CPO request another one or a team.
